George E. Johnson II, Eppie Johnson's son, is a founding partner and financial advisor with Lighthouse Strategic Advisors, a Sacramento based investment management and financial planning firm. George and his wife Molly are active supporters of youth education and fitness in Sacramento. They have two 7th Graders, Athena and EJ, who are homeschooled and row crew for River City Rowing Club.
George became involved with Eppie's Wellness Foundation soon after his father set it up. He currently enjoys working with his sister, Lisa, and the other dedicated Board members to not only further Eppie's legacy but to encourage healthy lifestyles and support the American River Parkway as well as the charities that fit the foundation's mission.
Lisa Mangels, Eppie Johnson's daughter, is a longtime retail executive living in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area. She and her husband Ben are small business owners who are very involved in supporting youth sports in the community. Lisa is involved with Eppie's Wellness Foundation to work with her brother George to ensure Eppie's legacy lives on through Eppie's Great Race, The Kids Duathlon and supporting the Sacramento Region's healthy lifestyle endeavors.
Dan Koellen is a retired high technology and semiconductor industry executive. Dan is an active angel investor in the Sacramento region where he has mentored and invested in several startup companies including three companies that have gone public. He is board member of several Sacramento non-profits in technology, community support and economic development. Eppie's Great Race was one of the first races for Dan when he first moved to Sacramento, a great welcome for him to Sacramento. He wants to preserve that special experience that Eppie's Great Race provided.
Jim Geary is a retired attorney who has helped manage The Great Race for more than 30 years, the Kids Duathlon since its inception more than 10 year ago as well as a longstanding member of the Great Race Executive Board. An active participant in many local races over the years, he is currently enjoys a 20 year consecutive streak running the Boston Marathon. His participation on the Board is a singular honor in his effort to continue giving back to the Sacramento athletic community.
Will Kempton has over forty years of experience in transportation, public service and government affairs. He has served in many high profile public and private positions including being appointed by Governer Schwarzenegger as Director of California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) in 2004. Will has been involved in various capacities for Eppie's Great Race for nearly forty years, including a stint as Race Director in the 1990’s. Will joined the EWF Board so he could continue to advance the spirit and legacy of the Race and its founder, Eppie Johnson.
Ron Suter retired as the Director of Sacramento County Regional Parks, American River Parkway, after over 40 years of recreation and parks management. Ron has been active in the community serving as a Rotarian, Paul Harris Fellow, member of the Great Race Executive Committee and on numerous foundation boards for the last three decades. Having been a friend of Eppie Johnson for over 30 years, Ron considers it an honor to serve as an Eppie's Wellness Foundation board member, raising funds for TRS, supporting health and wellness in Sacramento County, and as an advocate for the American River Parkway, the home of Eppie's Great Race and Eppie's Kids Duathlon.
